Meet Our New Miss Universe Bet: Catriona Gray

The eighteenth of March is definitely one helluva night for a pageant loving country like ours: a new set of queens were crowned to compete in international pageants!
The highest (and our favorite) crown, the Miss Universe, was bagged by none other than Catriona Gray, a crowd favorite and a young, experienced beauty queen.
Get to know her with these 8 facts:
She was formerly Miss World Philippines
Before bagging the highest crown in Binibining Pilipinas, she was hailed as Miss World Philippines. She competed in the Miss World 2016 pageant and finished in the Top 5 with special awards. Fans were enraged when she did not win the international title, and they’re pleased to see her compete for the second time, this time in Miss Universe.
She swept the special awards in Binibining Pilipinas
Aside from bagging the highest crown, Catriona Gray is definitely an early favorite. She bagged five out of eleven special awards during the competition including Pitoy Moreno Best in National Costume Award, Miss Ever Bilena, Jag Denim Queen, Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown.
She is a Taekwondo Black Belter
This beauty queen has a lot of interests and extracurricular activities, including martial arts. She has a black belt in taekwondo and a Certificate in Outdoor Recreation.
She is not new to the entertainment industry
Even before her Miss World stint, Catriona has been modeling ever since she was 18 years old. Now at 24, she’s become the face of different brands—her most notable is Pantene’s “Labels Against Women” campaign. She has also graced the cover of local magazines.
