Step Inside Manila’s Newest Nature Attraction, The Philippine Biodome

Jan 15, 2025   •   Kyzia Maramara

There’s nothing more exciting for urban explorers than finding out a new attraction has opened in the city and it’s filled with wildlife and nature. If you’re looking for more nature spots in Metro Manila to explore with your friends or take the kids on a field trip, the newly opened Philippine Biodome in Ermita, Manila, makes for the perfect escape. The best part? It’s right beside Manila Ocean Park so you can knock out two adventures in one day if you’re up for it.

The Philippine Biodome is the first and only biodome in the country and is an urban sanctuary that blends wildlife, vibrant flora and fauna, plus immersive experiences. Every corner is an educational hub for all ages, showcasing the Philippines’ remarkable biodiversity.

At the entrance hallway, you’ll be greeted with the beautiful Butterfly Koi Fish Tank and the impressive 14-footer Saltwater Crocodile Tank. Go further and walk through the Fresh Water Tank – don’t forget to take photos of this iconic area while sea creatures swim over your head!

There are also three Cones you can explore, each featuring different colorful birds: the Budgerigar, Brahminy Kites, and Rufous Hornbill. There’s also a viewing area for the bright and colorful Sun Conures. Try to identify how many colors these birds have on their feathers!

A must-see for families: the Amphitheater Show and Tell. Kids will love the opportunity to interact with birds up close.

The Animal Exhibit also includes areas for Mallard Ducks, Asian Small-Clawed Otters, and Cape Fur Seals.

Aside from marveling at creatures, the Philippine Biodome also immerses visitors in a lush environment. Diverse ground trees and plants thrive alongside vibrant green walls, creating vertical gardens of lush greenery that’s certainly Instagrammable.

And to cap off an exciting day, you can treat yourself to a thrilling indoor zip line experience.
