So what’s going to happen to your old luggage? Samsonite has collabed with Envirotech Philippines to upcycle traded-in luggage into sustainable school chairs. Last year, over 1,000 pieces of luggage were melted, molded, pressed, and assembled into 120 recycled chars, filling 5 classrooms in Labo Elementary School in Marinduque.
This initiative prevented over 4 tons of plastic waste from potentially ending up in landfills and the oceans, saving more than 100 trees. Moreover, these hard-plastic chairs are made to last for more than 15 years, being useful for generations of students to come.
Additionally, Samonite will donate PHP 100 for every trade-in transaction to World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF-PH), the world’s leading conservation organization.
